About

Our Story

At Anderson Education, our story begins with lived experience. I'm a fully qualified primary teacher with a master's in education, and I also have dyslexia myself. I know what it feels like to want to learn but not yet have the right tools or support - and I know how life-changing it is when those tools finally arrive.

For the past 10 years, I've worked across Scottish education in a wide range of roles - from class teaching to ASN support for children with complex needs, to my current work as an Additional Support for Learning teacher across both rural and urban schools. Alongside this, I hold a Level 5 qualification in specialist dyslexia teaching, I'm nearing the end of my Level 7 assessor qualification, and I'm a proud member of the Dyslexia Guild.

Anderson Education was born out of frustration with a system stretched too thin. As funding and staffing are cut, too many neurodivergent learners are slipping through the cracks - not because they lack ability, but because they're not getting the support they deserve.

That's where I come in.

I take time to understand each learner: what lights them up, what gets in their way, and how they learn best. Then I tailor tutoring and interventions to suit their individual needs and interests - using evidence-based, neuro-affirming approaches that build confidence as well as skill. Because no child should sit in a classroom and feel like they're the problem. There's nothing wrong with them - and I'll never let them believe otherwise.

Where I Work

Face-to-face tutoring and full diagnostic dyslexia assessments take place at my premises in rural Dumfries & Galloway. I also offer online specialist tutoring for pupils aged 14 and above who are confident using a computer independently.

Why I Do This Work

I love seeing confidence grow. I love watching children begin to believe in themselves again. Tutoring is the heart of what I do - it's the most joyful part of my week. But I also believe in the power of upskilling others, which is why I'm passionate about offering CPD to teachers, learning assistants, and parents. Together, we form a team around the child, building a shared path to success.

My mission?

To make high-quality dyslexia support accessible to every learner, no matter their postcode.
