The Reading Accuracy Self-Check Sheets are designed to help learners reflect on how they read — not how fast.
This resource supports children in noticing accuracy, self-correction, and helpful reading strategies, building confidence and independence over time. It is especially supportive for learners with dyslexia or literacy difficulties, where reading anxiety and speed pressure can negatively impact performance.
The pack includes three age-appropriate versions with consistent structure but developmentally suitable language:
Early Level / KS1
First Level / LKS2
Second Level / UKS2
1 A4 Teacher Guidance Sheet
Each self-check guides learners through:
Preparing to read calmly
Noticing strategies used while reading
Reflecting on accuracy (not speed)
Identifying what felt tricky
Choosing a helpful strategy for next time
The tone is positive, reflective, and non-judgemental, helping normalise mistakes as part of learning.
